Closegap

Closegap is a nonprofit tech startup on a mission to improve youth mental health by transforming the way kids are cared for in school. Our free mental health check-in helps K-12 students build key social-emotional skills while equipping schools with data for real-time monitoring and intervention at scale. The check-in guides students through questions about their emotions, physical sensations, and well-being, and allows them to privately ask an adult for help or choose from a library of self-guided, evidence-based SEL activities. Check-in data is delivered to school staff via an intuitive dashboard. Staff receive email alerts for crisis and urgent situations, a daily triaged list of students needing follow-up and data visualizations to spot trends over time. Schools using Closegap have prevented suicides and uncovered cases of self-harm, sexual assault, bullying, and trouble at home that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. We’ve served over 200,000 students in all 50 states, with over 7 million check-ins completed to date.
