About Us

Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County builds homes for families in need with the belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live. The ReStore is a resale shop that sells furniture, building materials, tools, etc. in order to raise funds for HFH. Below are some volunteer opportunities available in the ReStore:

·      Back Room Assistant (Light Duty) – Follow the cycle of the Back Room to facilitate smooth donation processing. This process includes: inspection/testing, cleaning, and pricing. Must be able to communicate with donors in a friendly and courteous manner. Clean and organize Back Room to keep it clear for incoming donations. Take trash and recycling to dumpster as needed.

·      Back Room Assistant (Heavy Duty) – Assist with unloading of donation truck, if needed. Carry furniture and larger items onto the Sales Floor. Be able to participate in Sales Floor resets. Assist with load outs for customers. This person will be trained on the proper ways to lift items. Must be comfortable lifting large items like furniture and cabinets. You also will be using push carts and dollies as tools to move items. Take trash and recycling to dumpster as needed.

·      Sales Floor – Clean and straighten items on the Sales Floor. Assist customers with any questions (or forward questions to ReStore supervisor). Help to create a positive sales experience by engaging with customers. Reorganize items on floor and create displays per approval by ReStore supervisor. Assist Front Desk worker if needed.

·      Front Desk – Must be professional and have a positive attitude. Perform customer service duties including answering the phone. Operate cash register (cash handling experience preferred). Schedule pick-ups of purchases and label sold items. Greet customers within 20 feet or 20 seconds of entering, and inform them of all the sales and promotions currently available. Assist with any other duties as needed.
