About Us
The Spencer Educational Foundation (“SEF” OR “Spencer”), is the premier organization awarding scholarships and grants in risk management and insurance, facilitating internship opportunities as well as providing a Risk Manager in Residence program to universities. Our mission is to fund the education of tomorrow’s risk management and insurance industry leaders. Founded in 1979 after Robert S. Spencer, it has awarded 981 scholarships totaling approximately $6.4 million, and $3.25 million in grants to universities and professional institutions for educations programs and conferences. Spencer is an independent, sister organization to RIMS, the Risk Management Society, which provides back-office support to the Foundation.
