Make A Wish Foundation of Colorado
The mission of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado is to grant the wishes of Colorado children under the age of 18 who are battling life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Our goal is to grant the most heartfelt wish of every medically eligible Colorado child referred to us.
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado (MAW) was established in 1983 after liver disease claimed the life of seven year-old Jennifer Mazak. A few weeks before her death, Jennifer’s longtime dream to meet a popular radio mascot came true. Jennifer’s mother, Joan Mazak, saw the joy and excitement her daughter experienced when her wish turned into a reality and wanted to provide the same hope for other children battling life-threatening illnesses. Following Jennifer’s death, Joan Mazak founded the Colorado chapter of MAW and is its current President & CEO. In its first year, MAW granted three wishes. Since then, the chapter has made dreams come true for over 2,500 Colorado children.
