Atitlan Multicultural Academy

Do you want to help solve the problems of Central America? Do you want to help young Guatemalans build a better future for themselves and their families through education? Then come work at AMA! Atitlán Multicultural Academy is an accredited bilingual pre-K through twelfth grade school located in Panajachel, Guatemala, on the shores of beautiful Lake Atitlán. AMA is staffed by qualified volunteer teachers from the United States and other English-speaking countries, as well as from Guatemala. Our volunteer teachers receive a stipend to cover their costs of living in Guatemala and receive help finding housing here in Panajachel.

AMA’s student body is very ethnically and economically diverse with many students from local Mayan villages and the surrounding Panajachel area, making AMA a fascinating place to work.

AMA offers small class sizes, a progressive curriculum with project-based constructivist learning, remedial programs in Math and English, SAT preparation, and AP courses for advanced students.

AMA is a small, friendly school that aims to provide a world-class, twenty-first century learning environment for Guatemalan children who would otherwise not have access to high quality education. Many of our students receive scholarships or have sponsorships to allow them to attend the school. AMA’s motto, “Whole People, Whole Planet” reflects both our vision and our daily goal.
