across the generations are formed; where all those who need a helping hand find an open door; and where all individuals are empowered to live their dreams.
Mission Statement:
We want to positively build capacity and impact our communities. OU aims to support and enable people struggling through difficult circumstances to overcome challenges and obstacles, nurture entrepreneurship and champion sustainability in entrepreneurial ventures, and foster and strengthen bonds in the community.
Our Aim
We aim to positively build community capacity, nurture entrepreneurship, champion, empower and support individuals experiencing difficult circumstances and obstacles to overcome challenges due to being economically deprived achieve sustainable livelihoods through their entrepreneurial aspirations and goals.
In supporting such entrepreneurial ventures, OU aims to impact the individual, their family which will foster and strengthen bonds within the community while ensuring that projects that are supported are environmentally sustainable - benefiting all. Our outcome will be transforming entrepreneurs from being job seekers to job creators.
HOW DO WE PLAN TO GET THERE? WHAT WE OFFER &WHAT WE PLAN TO OFFER
What we offer:
•Case management.
•Access and referral to services, programs, organizations, etc.
•Resources that will assist clients such as guides.
•Year-round Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) Clinic.
•Advocacy.
•Forms completion.
What we plan to offer:
•One-on-One Mentorship Program that provides not only mentoring but coaching and support for entrepreneurs.
•Monthly Mentor Circle for Entrepreneurs on the first Thursday of each month – an opportunity to voice wins, challenges, brainstorm, listen, learn, and support each other.
•Quarterly Entrepreneur's (Q & A) with mentors and coaches held on the (third Tuesday of the quarter).
•Professional development in areas such as financial literacy and leadership.
•Speakers Series where industry experts speak on topical issues.
•Skill building in areas such as communication, networking, and self-care.
•Peer-led Crafting Circle for individuals who are interested in knitting, crocheting, etc.
•Peer2Peer multi-generational conversation group - in an effort to bridge the gap.
•Recognizing and honouring the generations of Overcomers that came before us. The program would be launched and managed on our website - honouring the unsung heroes by showcasing and highlighting stories of hope and inspiration across the generations through events, and activities which will support and further connect overcomers.
