About Us

Background: The Youth Coalition for Education in Liberia is a non-political, non-governmental, non-religious and a National Youth body that advocates for Quality education and create the platform for youth participation and the capacity building of youth. It also gives to young people the bravery to raise their voices for better education and to teach peace and human rights in every part of the country.
The Youth Coalition for Education in Liberia is the assembly of youth, students and children organizations in pursuit of quality, accessible, adaptable and equitable education, peace and human rights, with special emphasis on girls education. It was than founded to Celebrate the Malala Day in Liberia, on the 19th of June 2013. A group of four youth advocates lead by Beyan F. Pewee who openly said they were inspired by the activism of Malala Youfsuzai decided go beyond just the celebration by founding a coalition that will focus on the Education, Peace and Human rights of our country, knowing fully well that there are many Malala in Liberia who are deprived education, who suffer humiliation, and who are also violated on the daily basic. This is a clear picture of what is happening in Liberia after every minutes of the day. We designed this strategic to get young people into their own development, survival, participation and growth, We are also with the conviction that with the existence of this coalition, youth will now have the opportunity to stand for quality education without being told or help by national government. The Coalition is using the Youth Resolution that was crafted by more than 200 hundred young people in the historic city of voinjama as their guideline and it’s tools for advocacy.
Vision:
The Coalition envisages a Liberia where in everyone will have equal access to quality education without any discrimination to sex, colour, tribe, disability, religious and political affiliations. In Line with the MDGs We also envision that by 2015 every child should be in school in Liberia.
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to ensure through advocacy and service delivery/capacity building that education is giving due consideration in Liberia, taking into primary account girls education as a key drive toward achieving inclusive development in Liberia.
