About Us

SHOOTERS: Narrative Shift, a recently incorporated PA not-for-profit organization with pending federal 501(c)3 designation. The organization focuses on the intersectionality of poverty and criminal justice, and supports and collaborates with organizations sharing similar missions. SHOOTERS functions primarily as a digital media training program for the formerly incarcerated that incorporates soft skills and video production trainings.

The SHOOTERS program is modeled after MING co-founder’s real-life experience; incarcerated at age 17, introduced to film in prison and then exposed to mentors in the creative industry upon release. Through a combination of technical instruction, positive social modeling, and the development of a true support system, the goal of SHOOTERS is to increase employment opportunities and fight the pull of gravity towards reincarceration.

SHOOTERS believes that it is confronted with the opportunity to transform society by engaging re-entering citizens in the investigation of the influences and factors that impact their communities and their own self-limiting beliefs. The program is designed to liberate the narrative voice of participants, inspiring the production of unique digital media content that will help change the social conversation around the politics of criminalization, poverty, recidivism, and re-entry.
