  • Mission

Mission: The Lar Lubovitch Dance Company was created to realize the artistic vision of Lar Lubovitch, one of this country's foremost choreographers. The company exists: (1) to create new work; (2) to perform those works both in our home base of New York City and around the world; and (3) to teach people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds, increasing awareness and appreciation of dance.

    About Us

Since establishing the company in 1968, Lar Lubovitch has created more than 100 dances for the company, using a wide variety of movement, music and sets. His creativity has been honored with many awards, with great critical acclaim and with sold-out houses around the world. (Among the many awards earned by Lubovitch are an international Emmy Award, the Astaire Award, a Tony Award nomination, an Elan Award, a Benois de la Danse Award, the Dance/USA Honors Award, an Honorary Doctorate from Juilliard, several National Endowment for the Arts Choreographer Fellowships and a Guggenheim Fellowship for Choreography.) Based in New York City, the company's activities every year include creating, performing and teaching in NYC. In addition, on an every-other-year basis the company also tours world-wide. Of all the foregoing activities, the company's primary focus is creating new works. The company has brought Lar Lubovitch's unique style of dance to virtually every state of the union, as well as to over 40 countries in Europe, Asia and South America.
