About Us

The mission of the Literacy Council of Norristown is to improve lives and strengthen families in Greater Norristown and Montgomery County by providing adult literacy and English language programs.

The Literacy Council of Norristown was founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated Montgomery County residents to provide tutoring to students who wanted to earn their high school equivalency or improve their reading and math skills.

Now, LCN supports over 500 adult learners every year with the reading, speaking, writing, math, English, and work skills they need to access broader social, employment, and educational opportunities.

In 2022, LCN launched its family and community literacy programs. Since May 2022, we’ve handed out over 15,000 books to families in Norristown!
