About Us

Camp Kesem is a college student-run summer camp for kids with a parent who has (or has had) cancer. Our one-week sleep away camps are a chance for kids ages 6 -16 to have a fun-filled week to just be kids. Everything we do at Camp Kesem focuses on our goal of giving our campers the most fun week possible, while providing the extra support and attention they need. 2012 will be our 5th summer of camp and we will be adding a teen camp for teens ages 14-16!

Camp 2012 will be August 5th-10th at Mah-Kah-Wee Program Center in Chuluota, FL. We will provide a charter bus to transport children and counselors to and from Gainesville, or you can meet us at camp on check-in day. Visit the campers page to download an application.

  • Camp Kesem programs are FREE of charge for the participating campers/families. No catch. UF students raise all of the money and organize the entire camp!
  • While this camp is for children who have a parent diagnosed with cancer, the focus is not therapy/cancer. Our goal is to just have fun.
  • Camp activities include sports, arts & crafts, drama, and “Cabin Chats”
  • Counselors are rigorously trained on camp safety, communication, behavior management, emergency & medical procedures, and grief & mourning.
