1 in 10 Canadians have a speech, language, or hearing problem.
11% of children in kindergarten have a speech sound disorder (SSD).
Speech Sound Disorders (SSDs) are the most commonly occurring neurodevelopmental disorder and they impact individual wellbeing, quality of life and employment and occupational opportunities.
We develop people ability and confidence to speak more clearly and fluently, while supporting the development of skills fundamental to literacy development. We teach a variety of strategies and techniques to help our clients deal with the physical and psychological effects and become successful communicators.
We have been recognized by the Ontario government as a "Centre of Training and Development." This is a result of the Institute’s many years of conducting research to inform our evidence-based speech and stuttering therapy programs. This designation means that the Government is relying on our Institute to help create speech and stuttering guidelines and train speech language pathologists in Toronto and across the Province of Ontario
Our speech and stuttering therapy services serve children with:
* speech sound disorders/speech production difficulties
* articulation difficulties
* motor speech disorders
* Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)
* late talkers
We provide subsidies to children and adults with financial barriers to ensure fluency and motor speech services are accessible to everyone!
