About Us

What is Grantwell? Operated through the George W. Romney Institute of Public Management, within the Marriott School of Management, Grantwell is a student program that enables public management students to assist foundations in assessing which nonprofits are most deserving of their funding. While Grantwell never handles the money itself, students use an in-depth quantitative and qualitative decision analysis to assist foundations looking to place funding with an organization that best meets their giving goals. In fact, the impact of the grant is doubled because of the valuable experience that students are given in the process. Students demonstrate a high level of responsibility and professionalism, which prepares them for nonprofit management in the future.

To become the premiere practicum for training future nonprofit leaders, the official mission of Grantwell is threefold: • Students: To provide Marriott School of Management students an opportunity to administer, manage, and participate in a student-run, faculty-advised, practical nonprofit environment.

• Romney Institute: To enhance the Romney Institute nonprofit curriculum by integrating classroom learning and practical experience.

• Community: To represent the interests of both donors and recipients and foster the relationships that lead to meaningful giving.
