About Us

Lydia's House of Hope is a 365 day Transitional Housing Program dedicated to ending the generational cycle of poverty and homelessness. We work to empower homeless women and their children by providing the advocacy, support, and structure needed to learn how to live a life of sustainable independence.

About Us

Lydia's House of Hope opened in 2017 near downtown Somersworth, NH. It is a 25-resident facility that offers a unique and highly effective approach to teaching hands-on life skills to those willing to do the work to change their lives.

Residents at Lydia's House voluntarily enroll in the 365-day transformational, life-changing program that addresses individual needs, with classes in everything from parenting and coping skills to nutritional cooking and financial literacy.

Our facility includes comprehensive counselling, a commercial kitchen, a learning center with computer stations, and communal dining and living areas.

Earlier this year, with the exceptional generosity of a caring donor, we were able to add a multi-family apartment building to our Lydia's House program. Now Lydia's House graduates have the opportunity to practice semi-independent living down the street at our new completely renovated building, Grace House. Our new facility provides residents with a firm foundation on which to ground themselves, take the lessons learned throughout their last year at Lydia's, and put them into practice. Grace House allows graduates affordable transitional living without residents having to re-enter any toxic environment from which they may have recently come.

We are not a federal or state-funded organization. Because we continue to be blessed with the unprecedented support of corporations, local businesses, individuals, and our amazing surrounding communities, our beautiful facility, talented staff, and incredible program has been changing families' lives forever.
