Delaware Transition to Teaching Partnership

Newark, DE | www.dt3p.udel.edu

About Us

A partnership among the US and DE Departments of Education, three high-needs school districts (Capital, Seaford and Woodbridge), two charter schools (Moyer Academy, and Pencader Charter), and the University of Delaware will prepare 15 highly-effective teachers each year in Mathematics, Science, Technology and English. We will search for talented candidates in all forums, but especially from among traditionally underrepresented groups (e.g., women, racial and ethnic minorities and people with disabilities).

The partnership seeks to:

¨ Recruit and select 15 Science, Math, Technology and English Language Arts candidates

¨ Provide a sequence of university courses to ensure a highly effective preparation program that also meets the state’s alternative certification requirements

¨ Implement an intensive summer institute for candidates before entering teaching

¨ Place DT3P candidates in partner or other high need schools

¨ Provide on-site coaching throughout their first year

¨ Provide professional development seminars for candidates and their mentors

¨ Provide financial support to the DT3P candidates through tuition scholarships and reimbursement of Praxis I and II fees.
