  • About Us

LEO was formed in 2002-2003 to promote the work-place interests and well-being of non tenure-track faculty at The University of Michigan.

The local represents approximately 1,500 lecturers on the University's three campuses (Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint), and is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, AFT Michigan, and the AFL-CIO.

LEO members ratified their first collective bargaining agreement in June 2004 and their latest in May 2018. As a result of their united efforts, LEO lecturers have made gains in salary, job security and benefits. They have also formed a new and vital community across the three campuses.
