Atlantic City Ballet
The Atlantic City Ballet is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization that has been at the forefront of dance and is widely considered the premier ballet company in its area. Founded in 1982, by International Ballerina, Phyllis Papa, The Atlantic City Ballet serves as a prime artistic resource to the people of South Jersey. AC Ballet offers access to fully-staged performances by a highly skilled company of professional dancers and educational programs designed to fit the needs of a diverse student population. Their community outreach initiatives encourage appreciation of and participation in the art form. The Atlantic City Ballet honors the diversity of world cultures through the engagement of a multicultural company of professional dancers .
At various times in its history, the AC Ballet has been the resident dance company at Atlantic Cape Community College and Richard Stockton College in New Jersey, and the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pennsylvania. The Company is comprised of a culturally diverse corps of versatile dancers from around the world. These exceptional dancers have earned national acclaim for their technical expertise and clarity, exuberant stage presence, and the required force, delicacy and energy necessary to interpret various musical scores and ultimately deliver performances of exceptional quality. They hail from four continents-North America, Asia, Europe, and Australia.
For 32 years, the company's season has been anchored by a the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker. Although their repertoire includes such classics as Sleeping Beauty, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Swan Lake, Ms. Papa is most noted for her innovative ballets such as Dracula, Caught Up In The Swing and her full length Carmen.Since its inception, the Atlantic City Ballet has truly served as one of the cultural treasures of Southern New Jersey.
