Proyecto Mosaico – Unite. Learn. Grow.

Proyecto Mosaico is a German non-profit association based in Mannheim/Germany with an office in Granada/Nicaragua. The focus of our work is coordinating international volunteers to organizations and projects in various countries in Central America. In addition to the coordination of volunteers, we are actively engaged in our own projects in the fields of environmental education and water and we increasingly conduct networking activities and capacity building for our local partner organizations.

We partner with local organizations that specialize in the following areas: EDUCATION & SOCIAL WORK, WOMEN, and/or ENVIRONMENT. We support organizations by providing educational, work, and networking activities, individual consulting, and support for project planning and implementation. We also assist in the collection and distribution of cash or in-kind donations.

We see volunteering as one of the best ways to promote communication and understanding between people from different cultures and thus contribute to international understanding. Our approach to volunteering is defined by equal cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships. As part of our work, we put great value on both sides – organizations and volunteers – benefiting through cooperation. We strive to ensure this mutual benefit by providing robust consulting for our volunteers, keeping close contact with our partner organizations, and offering training and informational events.

Everyone between the ages of 18 and 99 can volunteer in Central America with us. We do not have specific selection criteria because we want to give every person the opportunity to help and learn. For which organization our volunteers work depends on different qualifications such as their Spanish level, length of stay, previous knowledge, preferred field of work, and last but not least, their preferred cities, regions or countries.

Our service:

For our work and our services we demand a one-time-only fee of €250 (approx. US$325, depending on daily exchange rate) - regardless of the length of your stay. Our service includes:

• Volunteer work arrangements
• Help with your travel arrangements
• Orientation & support during your entire stay in Central America by eMail, Skype or telephone
• Spanish school & home stay arrangements
• Official certificate of completed volunteer work
• And much more

Please remember that many of our partner organizations do not have the money to pay for lodging and boarding. Monthly living costs range from around US$400 to US$800.
