The Physicians Peace Initiative

The primary goal of The Physicians Peace Initiative(TPPI) is to nurture and support relationships between groups who have been in conflict with a focus on their common need for good health care and to offer an opportunity for healing.. Support of these relationships will serve as a bridge to make a human connection that would transcend religion, politics and national origin. Traditionally there are several excellent organization such as Doctors Without Borders, Mercy Corps or Physicians for Peace who send physicians and medical personnel into areas of need around the world. However, these organization have been more focused on treatment, crisis intervention and stabilizing medical and public health emergencies. TPPI will focus on opportunities to build bridges and collaboration between groups who are at war or have a history of tension between them. Rather than medical care being the sole focus, this initiative would serve to promote the development of mutually beneficial relationships that would use public health and health care as the prime medium for this exchange. TPPI also recognizes the importance of Mindfulness and the power of belief when it comes to health and healing and will strive to incorporate this philosophy on all levels.
