CAMP FIRE USA HISTORY
Camp Fire USA was founded in 1910 to offer girls encouragement and training to be confident, effective leaders. In 1975, membership was extended to include boys, making Camp Fire USA an all-inclusive youth focused organization. Camp Fire USA has remained steadfast in its commitment and mission to help youth of all backgrounds develop positive self-esteem, self-confidence and leadership skills, while evolving with the changing needs of the community.
CAMP WATHANA HISTORY
Camp Wathana is owned and operated by Camp Fire USA Southeast Michigan Council. Camp Wathana was purchased in 1926 as a joint effort by the Girls Scouts of America and Camp Fire Girls. In 1932 the Girls Scouts sold their portion of Camp Wathana to Camp Fire Girls and it has been a Camp Fire camp since.
