FOSTERING HEROES FOUNDATION

  • Mission

Fostering Heroes Foundation began with a simple yet powerful vision: helping foster youth, especially those in group homes aged 12–21, become the heroes of their own lives. Its signature initiative, Cowboy Camp, launched as a transformative day‑and‑a‑half ranch experience featuring horseback riding, campfires, and character‑building mentorship. Since then, they’ve expanded their programs significantly. Now, Fostering Heroes hosts Future Heroes Summer Camp, a 4-day leadership and personal development retreat for youth. This event builds excitement for the rest of the year’s festivities: Bold Athletics, which connects youth to secondary schools through sports and Everyday Heroes, which provides weekly mentorship and programming to youth directly in their homes. Grounded in consistent mentorship, trust-building, and joyful engagement, Fostering Heroes equips foster youth to overcome systemic barriers and thrive as confident, self-reliant adults.

    About Us

Youth aging out of foster care are severely underprepared for adulthood and face daunting odds: of the 70,000 youth that age out of foster care in the US yearly, about 23,000 will live below the poverty level, 24,000 will be homeless, and 35,000 will face unemployment. PTSD rates are twice as high as US veterans and nearly half have an identified disability.

Fostering Heroes Foundation addresses the real problems foster youth face: instability, disconnection, and a lack of practical preparation for adulthood. Many of these young people grow up without a consistent adult to teach them everyday skills or encourage their growth. The organization answers this need with steady, in-home mentorship. Each week, trained mentors enter group homes not just as visitors but as reliable figures. They teach youth how to plan meals, manage time, practice communication, and navigate daily challenges. These simple acts build the trust and self-respect which so many foster youths have been denied.

This work is extended through practical programs designed to shape character and strengthen resolve. Future Heroes Camp offers challenges that demand teamwork and courage. Bold Athletics teaches discipline, perseverance, and pride in effort. Arts workshops give space for self-expression and help youth find their voice. These programs do more than entertain, they are structured to replace doubt with confidence, fear with initiative, and isolation with belonging.
