About Us

North Brooklyn Angels is a newly formed a 501© tax-exempt non-profit. Our organization is based on the idea that North Brooklyn is a neighborhood filled with people who want to work together to fight hunger, food insecurity, and poverty. We believe direct action by neighbors is an important resource in building an equitable, diverse, neighborhood. In response to the gentrification, hunger, homelessness, and poverty that is seen on the streets of our neighborhood, a group of residents have come together to form this direct-action non-profit group to directly respond to the needs of our neighbors. What started as a few people cooking meals for a homeless shelter has flourished into a much bigger mission. As these neighbors brainstormed the many needs out there, an idea to fund a mobile soup kitchen kept popping to the top of the list. That idea became our first project. This 40 ft food service truck equipped with office space has become affectionately known as the Angelmobile. With this project, we hope to create a busload of hope, love, & nutrition, serving people hot, healthy meals at strategic locations around the neighborhood and providing a mobile office space for the many wonderful charitable & human service programs already operating in the neighborhood. Outside of providing a community meal, our main goal is to provide ample opportunity for neighbors to volunteer, meet their neighbors, and actively address the disparities that exist in our region. We will start by serving meals, but we have a long list of creative ideas for ways for us to join and build a sustainable, equitable community.
