TARCOG - Ombudsman Program


  • Mission

    As the region's Area Agency on Aging (AAA), TARCOG provides many services to the region's elderly population. The AAA is the place to go for answers on Aging, when someoneneeds help with Aging-related decisions. The AAA plans and manages a system of in-home and community services to help seniors maintain their independence and dignity, and it administer federal, state, local, and private funds to support those services. Working closely with local governments, service agencies, and volunteers, the AAA provides services and pulls together other resources to help people stay as active, healthy, and in-control as possible.

    About Us

    The volunteer ombudsman serves an invaluable role in assisting the long-term care ombudsman program in meeting the advocacy needs of the long-term care resident by visiting long-term care facilities and reporting any complaints/problems to the Certified Long-Term Care Ombudsman if the resident so requests, and ensuring that the resident's medical, legal, and community rights are preserved and protected.

    The volunteer ombudsman may also support outreach, community education and recrutiment on behalf of the Ombudsman Program.
