Selah's Pig Sanctuary

  • Mission

My mission is to provide opportunities where we can redefine and challenge our perception of pigs in Hawaii. By meeting the animals at eye level we can gain a new understanding and new forms of communication and interaction with these animals where we can live in harmony and respect. These interactions will serve as a means to inspire others and improve the welfare, livelihood, and well-being of all.

    About Us

Selah’s Pig Sanctuary, located in Keaau on Hawaii’s Big Island, is the state’s first 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and protecting wild and domestic pigs. Founded to provide a safe and loving home for orphaned and abandoned pigs, our mission has grown into a movement that redefines how people see these intelligent, emotional, and deeply social animals.

At Selah’s Pig Sanctuary, we offer lifelong sanctuary and individualized, science-informed care for each resident while working to shift public perception through education, outreach, and community connection. Our programs invite visitors and volunteers to experience pigs as sentient beings, fostering empathy and awareness for their lives and the ecosystems they inhabit.

Beyond rescue, Selah’s Pig Sanctuary stands for compassion in action. We advocate for humane, sustainable solutions to Hawaii’s pig–human conflicts and model a future rooted in respect, coexistence, and collective responsibility toward all animals.
