El Paso MLK Canned Food Drive Committee

El Paso, TX

  • About Us

The MLK Canned Food Drive of El Paso began in 2001 with a grant from the Corporation for National Service to the City of El Paso. The purpose of the grant was to create a project honoring Dr. King's legacy, as an act of kindness. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Food Drive is a way for all El Pasoans to remember and celebrate the life and work of Dr. King through service, giving and volunteerism. Non-perishable canned and dried foods collected at various sites throughout El Paso from early January through MLK day are directly distributed to organizations serving the less fortunate. This food helps to replenish empty pantries after the holidays.
