  • About Us

Main Street Marketplace and Meeting Place (MSMMP) is a 501c3 non-profit located in China Grove, NC. Main Street Mission (our parent organization) was started in 2003 to address the immediate needs of southern Rowan County in the aftermath of textile mill closures. Primary operations at that time focused on resource provision of food and clothing. After years of listening to and serving our neighbors, it became evident that a shift to move beyond one-way giving to a responsible charity model was needed. With long term community development and sustainable change as a new calling, Main Street Marketplace and Meeting Place was born. Since that time, MSMMP has led recovery and life skills programs where 60% of graduates no longer need support or services. Starting in 2020, the transition of our food bank to a community market with a sliding scale ensures every income level has access to healthy food and the ability to provide for their family with dignity. Our hydroponic gardens have allowed creation of jobs and a sustainable production of lettuce and microgreens to fuel our market and programs. We are committed to the long-term health of our community. Come join our team and be a part of reinventing what it means to create an impact through love!
