  • About Us

The mission of the Charleston Animal Society has been the same since 1874– preventing cruelty to animals.

Charleston Animal Society is South Carolina’s largest animal rescue. Every day we combat cruelty by using innovative, scientifically-based strategies including a large-scale spay/neuter program, a free roaming cat initiative, educational outreach programs that teach our children to be humanitarians and a food bank for pets. We also work with police, prosecutors and lawmakers to make sure animal cruelty laws are enforced and made stronger.
