  • About Us

CPHS was founded in 1991 by health advocates, health care workers, unions, and community organizations to support the public health care system in NYC. CPHS has opposed budget cuts, fiscal and other policies that worsen and destabilize health care services provided by the public health and hospital system. It supports alternatives to 'privatization' for improving quality and meeting community health care needs and access to services for the under- and uninsured. CPHS works with community residents and organizations to strengthen access to health care services and public accountability in health care. CPHS provides research, policy analysis, advocacy and community organizing. CPHS is funded by foundations, organizational and individual contributions.
