COMUNIDAD Latina de Vashon

Comunidad is a Latino grassroots organization based on Vashon Island, Washington and also organizing in surrounding areas. Established in 2009, Comunidad was born out of a collective desire to shift systems that hold back our success. In 2015, we re-founded as a centrally youth led organization. We envision Latinos (on Vashon Island and beyond) flourishing by embracing our culture and talent and harnessing our power to transform systems that weren’t designed for us or by us. We understand the privilege inherent to participating in mainstream ways and purposely search for those who have not been involved. We are looking for change makers and community builders for our next phase of community led innovation and joy.
