Our Motto: Empowering Communities. Changing Lives

    About Us

The Urban League of Essex County's initiatives focus on:

    Education and Youth Development

We strive to ensure that children have the skills required to fully participate in the 21st century economy. Our pre-school and enrichment programs offer math-rich environments to promote problem solving and critical thinking.

    Employment and Job Readiness

We increase the capacity of job-seekers to attain sustainable employment and career paths through counseling, skills training, job placement and case management.

We also provide critically needed assistance to individuals with multiple barriers to employment, including low-skilled, reentry and mature workers.

    Housing Assistance and Counseling

We provide information, education, and were necessary - emergency assistance for working families. Our programs support wealth-building and reinvestment in neighborhoods and urban communities, focusing on financial literacy, home ownership, and foreclosure prevention.

    Community Building and Advocacy

We promote civic engagement and leadership development to empower residents to have an active role in determining the direction of public policy and other initiatives that affect the quality of life in their local communities.
