Humane Society of Southern Arizona
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA), founded in 1944, is a private, independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization with the mission of acting with compassion and responsible stewardship through innovative programs that serve pets and the people who love them. HSSA is the largest charitable animal welfare and protection agency in Southern Arizona with 100+ employees, serving all of southern Arizona, handling approximately 8,000animals per year, within a $6+ million annual budget. HSSA has instituted nationally-recognized programs and operates a thrift store, off-site adoption and retail centers and spay/neuter clinics, which perform about 12,000 surgeries per year. HSSA is currently engaged in a capital campaign to build a new, state-of-the-art facility.
