    About CHEDCOM

Founded in 1999 and registered on 13th August 2004 with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission, The Centre for Health, Education and Development Communication (CHEDCOM) is a leading non-profit organization renowned for its impactful work with vulnerable populations—particularly children, youth, and women—across several African communities. By leveraging diverse approaches, CHEDCOM has established itself as a pioneer in fostering healthier, more resilient societies through targeted interventions.

Our multidisciplinary team is highly skilled in community engagement, research, project implementation, and evaluation. We specialize in surveillance activities and the provision of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services, ensuring comprehensive care for those who need it most.

    Our Approach

At CHEDCOM, we believe that community involvement is central to achieving meaningful and sustainable change. Using Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) as a core strategy, we ensure that community members actively participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs. This bottom-up approach fosters ownership, accountability, and long-term impact while tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each community.

    Our Values

Guided by the principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), CHEDCOM ensures that every intervention prioritizes the voices of the most vulnerable populations. We are deeply committed to the safeguarding of individuals and vulnerable groups, maintaining the highest standards of respect and protection. As a learning organization, we strive for continuous improvement in our processes, fostering partnerships and building capacity to achieve excellence in service delivery.

    Our Achievements

    1. Pioneer in Mobile HIV Testing: CHEDCOM established Nigeria’s first mobile HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) service in 2004, thus enabling thousands of individuals to know their HIV status and access life-saving care.
    2. Advancing Community-Led Engagement: Through our innovative use of Community-Led Monitoring (CLM), we have successfully enhanced community participation and ownership of development programs, leading to more sustainable outcomes.
    3. Robust Safeguarding Practices: We uphold strict safeguarding protocols to protect the rights and dignity of vulnerable groups, both within the organization and in the field.
    4. Expert Leadership: Our leadership team has extensive experience in intergovernmental relations, contributing to the development of health policies at the highest levels in Nigeria.
    5. Deep Community Expertise: With a strong understanding of grassroots engagement, CHEDCOM empowers communities to co-create solutions that address their challenges effectively.

    Our Commitment

CHEDCOM is dedicated to improving lives by fostering equity, inclusion, and participation. By prioritizing community involvement through tools like Community-Led Monitoring, we empower communities to take charge of their development and ensure lasting impact. With every project, CHEDCOM works to uphold the dignity and rights of vulnerable populations, creating sustainable pathways to better health and well-being.
