The AUDELCO and Obie Award-winning Billie Holiday Theatre, founded by Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation,  is devoted to the discovery of world-class storytelling with a focus on stories for, by and about people of African descent. The Billie presents, promotes and sustains art that reflects the definitive issues of our time in and through all of its forms of expression. The Billie Holiday Theatre has been a significant platform for many Black theater artists, including Samuel L. Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation (Restoration) has been a prominent member of the Brooklyn community for nearly fifty years. As the nation's first community development corporation, Restoration successfully partners with residents and business to improve the quality of life of Central Brooklyn by fostering economic self-sufficiency, enhancing family stability and growth, promoting the arts and culture and transforming the neighborhood into a vibrant place to live, work and visit.
