About Us

Mission Statement

Cincinnati Boychoir’s mission is to enhance and deepen every boy’s creative expression, community engagement, and cultural appreciation through the vocal arts. Our vision is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for boys to develop their individual potential and become outstanding artists and leaders. Our core values are Artistry, Personal Growth, Community Engagement, and Cultural Appreciation.

Brief Description of Organization

The Cincinnati Boychoir is one of the premiere boychoirs in the United States. Located in the urban arts core of Cincinnati at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, the Boychoir reaches approximately 200 young men each year from more than 90 schools in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

Founded in 1965, the Boychoir meets the needs of each boy who enters the program with a curriculum that teaches not just musical skills but self-discipline, intellectual curiosity, empathy, and a spirit of volunteerism.

Boys from grades 3-12 attend weekly rehearsals, and commit from 6 weeks to a full academic year. Each week, all boys come together for a combined rehearsal in which older boys are empowered as big brothers to younger boys, teaching them the nuts and bolts of music and singing, as well as how to tie their bow-tie and more.

We present approximately twenty annual performances in the greater Cincinnati region, and have performed concerts and completed residencies both at home and abroad, when not navigating through a viral pandemic.

We strive to make the Boychoir accessible to all boys, regardless of race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic need, so they all have the opportunity to experience the life changing impact of immersive arts participation.
