About Us

The Women’s Organizing Network (WON) was formed in 2014 with a mission to support women community organizers, particularly women of color, to advance their leadership and to support social justice community organizing groups to integrate a stronger gender analysis into their work. WON believes this mission can best be achieved through interconnected processes of (a) supporting individual organizers, and (b) facilitating structural changes inside of organizations.

WON's flagship program is a six-month leadership development cohort for a group of approximately ten selected women who work as organizers at social justice organizing groups and unions across New York City – WON Leadership Circles. The purpose of the cohort is for women organizers to build relationships of mutual support, learn strategies to advance their own leadership, and take action to apply an intersectional gender lens to their community organizing work.
