  • Mission

It is our Mission to Preserve the Kirtland Temple—the first Latter Day Saint Temple built in 1836, which today is a National Historic Landmark—and to Share the story of the 1830s community that built it with over 30,000 visitors each year.

    About Us

Dedicated in 1836 as a House of Prayer, Learning, and Order; the Kirtland Temple today is a National Historic Landmark where visitors still come to pray and worship, as well as learn about the history and appreciate the architecture of this unparalleled structure.

Our staff is largely composed of volunteers who give tours, tend the gardens, provide maintenance, and work in our museum store. We strive to provide the very best experience and interpretation for our guests.
