  • Mission

Frontier College believes that literacy is a right. Literacy is more than just the ability to read and write. Literacy is the ability to understand the printed word and put it to use. It’s about strengthening culture, achieving goals, gaining knowledge, and recognizing potential, i.e. succeeding in today’s world. Frontier College focuses on providing poverty reducing literacy education to various groups by using a student centered individualized learning (SCIL) model as we recognize people have different learning styles and different goals to be addressed.

    About Us

Frontier College is Canada’s Original Literacy organization, with a history dating back to 1899. Teacher and reverend, Alfred Fitzpatrick, along with a team of trained volunteers brought literacy and numeracy to logging camps, mines, and railway lines. We are not a physical college where people go to take exams; we go to where literacy programs are needed and build relationships in the community with the help of amazing, dedicated volunteers.
