AmeriCorps Seniors strive to engage Americans 55 years and older in volunteer service and to provide one-on-one support to children with special needs to improve their academic, social, or emotional development.

    Who We Are!

    The Foster Grandparent Program is a part of AmeriCorps Seniors, a federal agency that encourages adults 55 and older to share their skills, talents and experiences to meet a wide range of community challenges. NCO Volunteer Network sponsors and administers the Foster Grandparent Program for Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake Mendocino, and Sonoma Counties.

    Who is eligible to become a

    Foster Grandparent?

    Foster Grandparents MUST:

    • Be 55 years or older
    • Meet income requirements
    • Consent to a comprehensive criminal history check
    • Adhere to our code of conduct and all other program policies
    • Be physically and mentally able to perform assigned activities
    • Have a willingness to learn and grow through on-going training
    • Have a genuine desire to work with children and youth
