Overview of the ASSOCIATION PWOPTE POU DEMEN (APD)

Founded on October 24, 2024, in Ouanaminthe, the ASSOCIATION PWOPTE POU DEMEN (APD) is a civic, secular, non-political, and non-profit organization. Its name reflects a deep conviction: the environment is a collective heritage that every generation has the responsibility to protect and pass on intact.

Our Mission

APD works toward the protection, preservation, and restoration of the environment by placing citizen participation and education at the center of its actions. We believe that informed, mobilized, and empowered communities are the first line of defense against the degradation of their living environment.

What We Do

Our activities cover several complementary areas:

• Sanitation and public cleanliness: organizing cleaning campaigns, drainage clearing, and maintenance of public and natural spaces;
• Environmental awareness and education: conducting outreach campaigns within communities, among youth, and with local institutions to promote environmentally responsible behaviors;
• Sustainable waste management: promoting best practices, providing technical support, and developing recycling and waste recovery initiatives;
• Scientific and technical support: contributing to environmental assessments, studies, and assistance for local and institutional stakeholders;
• Mobilization and volunteerism: building a network of committed citizens around concrete and measurable field actions.

Our Values

All resources generated — whether from membership contributions, partnerships, or environmental service activities — are fully reinvested into the association’s mission, with no distribution of profits among members.

Our Territorial Commitment

Although based in Ouanaminthe, APD aims to extend its impact across the entire Haitian territory. The organization is part of a sustainable local development approach, working in collaboration with municipal authorities, civil society organizations, and national and international partners who share its objectives.
