About Us

Our Mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Our Promise is TO STRENGTHEN THE FOUNDATIONS OF COMMUNITY.

The YMCA of Abilene was chartered in 1946 by the National Council of YMCAs, and has remained in good standing for over 70 years. Managed by a team of volunteers and staff, the Y employees over 150 part-time and full-time staff to deliver it’s mission.

With a vision to serve youth and families within the six county service area, the Y is known for the delivery of high quality programs in the area of health and wellness for everyone, sports, aquatics and childcare. In addition, the Y is proud to make programs available for everyone; scholarships are given back to our community annually in program subsidy assisting our youth and those in need.

At the Y, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. We strive to give everyone the opportunity to test their own limits, explore new goals and reach their fullest potential.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, strengthening communities is our cause. At the Y, we believe that lasting personal and social change happens when we all work together. Every day we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.

Financial assistance keeps the Y available for kids, individuals and families who need us most. When you give to the Y, you are funding life-changing programs that help thousands of children, adults and families in the Big Country to learn, grow and thrive.
