Siempre Unidos

Siempre Unidos is a 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in California in 2004 with the primary purpose "to develop and implement compassionate models and programs of care for persons with HIV/AIDS in resource limited environments such as the country of Honduras". From its inception, Siempre Unidos (California) has primarily worked with Siempre Unidos (Honduras) to jointly develop programs and to provide financial support. 

Founded as the initial self-help group for persons with HIV/AIDS in Honduras in 1999, Siempre Unidos (Honduras) has been at the forefront of HIV care in Honduras, providing effective antiretroviral treatment and compassionate care even before the Honduran Ministry of Health began treatment. Siempre Unidos is the only non governmental organization to provide HIV treatment with the Ministry of Health, which has now expanded its medical services.

Our primary objectives include:

1. Providing excellent holistic medical care for Hondurans with HIV regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnic group, ability to pay, or political affiliation
2. Reaching out to vulnerable communities to educate about HIV prevention, provide confidential testing, and general medical care (including the LGBTQI+, commercial sex workers, very poor communities, and the Garifuna and other discriminated ethnic groups)
3. Advocating for high-risk groups and reducing discrimination against them through community outreach
4. Fighting gender discrimination and gender-based violence through education and empowerment.
5. Providing food and resources, school scholarships to the most vulnerable of the population.

Siempre Unidos is a stable organization that was founded and has been led from its inception by Rev. Pascual Torres, an attorney and Episcopal minister in Honduras, and Dr. Denise Main, the US President. The Honduran organization receives stellar reviews from the Honduran Ministry of Health.  Siempre Unidos (CA) is rated as a 4 Star small charity by Charity Navigator (consistently 97-100%).   While we support 18 staff members at two clinics in Honduras, Siempre Unidos (CA) is mostly volunteer run with only one part time US development director.
