About Us

ABOUT

MAA (Monayr Asha Aid) is a grass-roots volunteer organization founded to promote education and literacy among children in the developing nations. "Monayr Asha" is a Bengali term, literally meaning hope of the mind/soul, metaphorically meaning one's deepest desire.

MISSION STATEMENT

MAA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the advancement of childhood education.

Across the world, millions of children are denied the essential experiences of education simply because their families need their labour to survive. MAA has been created with the goal of changing this dynamic and creating the foundation of knowledge among young people to ensure truly sustainable socioeconomic development, and social justice in their communities.

OUR PROJECTS

Currently we have projects in Bangladesh and Uganda.

In Bangladesh, MAA supports two groups of ten children each. Together with a local NGO, MAA set up an after-school support program for the children, who come from ultra poor families from the slums of Chittagong. MAA also organizes and sponsors teacher trainings, monthly parent teacher meetings, doctor's check ups and field trips.

In Uganda, MAA works together with Buwagga Senior Secondary School, a school that was established by the community members with the objective of being able to offer equal access to quality education right in their own village.
