About Us
Lafayette Academy is a public charter school located in the Carrollton area at 2727 South Carrollton Avenue at the corner of Carrollton Avenue and Walmsley Street. We are the largest Elementary School in New Orleans with approximately 780 students in pre-kindergarten through 7th grade. Enrollment is open to all students throughout the city. No tuition is required to attend. Bus service is provided for students throughout the city, including New Orleans East. Each student at Lafayette is provided with a school program enriched by fine arts, technology and athletics. The overall student to teacher ratio is 9 to 1. Every fourth grade class has a maximum of 20 students with two teachers in each classroom dedicated to ensuring that each student has every opportunity for success on the high-stakes LEAP test.
