Thrive For Life

Founded in Manhattan in 2017, Thrive For Life’s mission is to transform lives behind and beyond U.S. prison walls. We are a community organization working to alleviate the effects of incarceration on individuals and society. In 2019, we opened the Ignacio House of Studies—a supportive transitional reentry community for up to 15 formerly incarcerated people who are continuing the good work of education that they began while incarcerated. Ignacio House eliminates the most common re-entry barriers—homelessness, unemployment, and poverty—so that formerly incarcerated students can build successful careers, avoid recidivism, and lead fulfilling lives. Our university partners provide scholarships for Ignacio House residents, and we leverage our vast network of service professionals to address the unique needs of our resident scholars. With the growth of prison education programs across the country, and the reinstatement of Pell grants for justice-involved people, Thrive For Life is expanding the Ignacio House model.
