Illinois is among the few states leading the nation in passing common-sense gun safety laws. This is thanks in part to the education, advocacy, and organizing efforts by One Aim Illinois , a consolidation of the Gun Violence Prevention Education Center (GPEC) and the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence (ICHV). One Aim is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that leads the state’s largest grassroots coalition , working to end gun violence in Illinois by translating public opinion into effective public policy.
In pursuit of the organizational mission to reduce gun violence in communities across Illinois, One Aim pursues a strategy of broad engagement to build support for the goal of reducing violence. One Aim engages a range of audiences-the public, policymakers, community based organizations, community members, survivors, and young people-through the organization’s core activities, which include Education and Research, Coalition Building, and Policy Creation and Implementation.
