  • Mission

The mission of Minneapolis Sailing Center is to teach sailing to all in a fun and supportive environment and foster a vibrant sailing community in the City of Lakes.

    About Us

The Minneapolis Sailing Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) sailing center. MSC was founded in 1989 by parents from the Calhoun Yacht Club who wanted a formal program for their children to learn to sail and to introduce the sport to others in the area. MSC has grown to one of the largest sailing schools in the midwest with enrollment of more than 1000 sailors last summer.

We offer summer sailing camps for youth ages 4 to 18 where students learn to sail in small groups. In the evenings we host adult sailing classes and a membership program that allows for the use of our fleet throughout the summer.

We believe sailing is a pathway for personal growth and development. Beyond teaching sailing skills, we hope to instill self-reliance, confidence, cooperation, and an appreciation of nature in our students. Many generations of families have been defined by their sailing experiences on Bde Maka Ska (formerly Lake Calhoun).
