LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph
Motivated by the resolute belief that substantive, provocative photography not only has the power to deepen awareness about the forces that shape our world, it can change it for the better, LOOK3 challenges assumptions about photography by presenting diverse work by a variety of global artists.
Known for creating intimate and powerful events that inspire, illuminate, provoke, and engage, we work with both legendary and emerging photographers, often bringing them together in order to benefit from one another. Regardless of career stage, the uniting quality of all LOOK3 artists is an unequivocal, passionate commitment to their work.
The LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph offers community engagement events and public programming, including a world-class exhibition series and the much-anticipated INsight Conversations with renowned international photographers and photojournalists, all taking place on Charlottesville's Historic Downtown Mall during the month of June. Our outdoor exhibitions include the beloved TREES show, which the Mall into a vibrant ecologically-conscious exhibition space featuring giant natural history photos hanging from the trees. Additionally, the LOOK3 mentorship program is dedicated to supporting, challenging, and advancing the next generation of photographers. LOOKbetween, the anchor event of the mentorship program, is described by alumni as a career-defining experience.
