Heart Ministry Center

About Us

The Heart Ministry Center is a community outreach center located at 2222 Binney Street in Omaha, Nebraska.  The mission of the Center is to provide food, clothing, healthcare, and a way forward to people severely affected by poverty in the Omaha area.  The Center offers various programs and services to help achieve its mission. These include: a “choice” food pantry, clothing closet, dental clinic, Porto urgent care health clinic, community garden, resource center, legal clinic, community outreach events, youth mentoring program, Pathway self-sufficiency program for women, life skills classes, support group meetings and case management services.

The Center originated over thirty years ago in response to increased requests from members in the north Omaha community seeking food, clothing, shelter and financial assistance.  The Center has always aimed to assist people needing life’s most basic necessities and has dramatically increased the number of clients served from providing 3,000 acts of assistance annually in 2006 to an average of 8,000 per month in 2014.  To better serve the increased number of clients, the Center recently completed an extension renovation to create a third medical exam room, a social work office, a pharmacy, a dental clinic, a self-sufficiency classroom, and an expanded lobby area.  Despite the increase in demand for services, the Center strives to provide high quality, personalized care for every individual that walks through the door.
