NYC CoolRoofs

New York, NY

  • About Us

NYC CoolRoofs is a city initiative through the Mayor's Office to help combat the urban heat island effect by coating 1,000,000 square feet of rooftop white. The program aims to reduce cooling costs, cut energy usage, and lower greenhouse gas emissions, making New York City healthier, greener, and more cost efficient. NYC CoolRoofs engages volunteers to apply a white reflective coating to non-profit and low income housing buildings in targeted communities across all five boroughs. We exist as a partnership between Community Environmental Center, Department of Buildings, Green City Force, and NYC Service.
