  • About Us

Emery House is a small, rural retreat center in West Newbury, MA, owned and operated by the Brothers of the Society of St John the Evangelist (our main monastery is in Cambridge, MA). The Brothers who are in residence here welcome people for retreats, inviting them to join us for meals and for our regular round of worship. We try to live simply and responsibly on this land. We have a large garden, and invite our guests to work alongside us to grow and harvest our food. We educate people about caring for the earth. Most of our retreat offerings (beginning in Fall, 2023) will center on themes related to this.
